OF THE PARENTS
When Donald Black ran the first club in Britain to teach gay guys to wrestle he discovered that the members had not told their parents that they were learning to wrestle.
Is that important?
Donald believes it is because, as he pointed out to them, if they had joined a tennis club or a swimming club they would have told their parents about it. Most people would approve of men learning a fighting skill so that they can protect themselves and their families in the street and not only approve but actually be encouraging.

When he pressed them as to the reason they had not told their parents the members claimed they thought their parents would not approve of their wrestling. This was no surprise to Donald as his own mother did not approve of his learning to wrestle when he broke the news to her.
This is also in line with the findings of Richard Green a Los Angeles psychiatrist (and now Professor of Psychiatry and Professor of Law in residence at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) who did the largest piece of research into the nature of homosexuality.
Before we come on to Prof. Green's findings we should note that Gunter Dörner was the first scientist to establish that homosexuality was created in the womb. He injected pregnant rats with oestrogen and found that the babies were homosexual. He also pointed out that the change in the balance of hormones in the womb could be caused by illness (pathology) (That is probably the cause of the homosexuality that has been observed in practically all species of animals and birds.)
Prof. Green, for his research which covered a period of 15 years, chose boys who had persistently dressed in girls'/women's clothes (cross-dressed) and interviewed them and their parents several times over the duration of the study.
Dr Green undertook the study because earlier researchers had found that persistent cross-dressing by children was a good indicator of their becoming gay adults. Dr Green hoped to clarify why 80% became gay adults and 20% did not.
What he found was that the majority of the parents had wanted girls before the baby was born and that after a boy was born, the fathers showed a loss of interest that resulted in their absence (compared to the fathers of the straight sons). (In his book Escape the Gay Straitjacket Donald Black explains that it is because the mothers spend so much time with the new baby ignoring their husbands that the fathers feel ignored, excluded, become resentful and consequently spend less time at home.)
NOT INTRINSIC
We now know that the "dominant mother" and "absent father" are NOT the CAUSE of homosexuality. However, this phenomenon has been recorded in the research of sociologists, biologists, and psychiatrists who, collectively during most of the last century, have interviewed tens of thousands upon thousands of gay men who reported it and, unfortunately, it was misattributed as the cause of homosexuality which we now know it is not. Does it, then, have any importance?
Yes, it has very great importance indeed. Donald Black explains that it is responsible for causing a neurosis in the gay sons very early in their lives that makes them repress their anger. This means in effect that they lack anger and aggression and are, therefore, unable to stand up for themselves so they become manipulated (especially by their mothers), oppressed by society, put upon, become depressed, unable to find Mr Right, frightened of other men, frightened of "violence", unable to participate in aggressive, body-contact sports and so on. In the vernacular they become "wimps" but this only applies to 90% of gay men. The other 10% of gay men are able to express their anger and aggression in playing rugby, football, judo, boxing or wrestling which proves that repressing anger is not intrinsic to being gay.
MORE TRAGIC
Repressing anger is well known to cause more problems than it cures (see SOLVING GAY PROBLEMS).
But are gay men repressing their anger? If you ask any gay man he will most likely say, "I am not repressing my anger. I don't have any anger." Repeated research throughout most of the last century has shown that it is normal to be angry from seven times a week to seven times a day. If gay men do not have any anger what has happened to it? Where has it gone? Why do they not "have any anger"?
It has been repressed.
And this neurosis which causes them to repress their anger, is due to the potent mixture of a dominant mother and an absent father. This is a tragic legacy the parents have bestowed upon their gay sons and all the more tragic because the parents do not realise what they have done to their sons, nor do the sons realise what their parents have done to them.
The good news, Donald Black explains in his book Escape the Gay Straitjacket, is that as it is a neurosis it can easily be cured.
